What is the RTA Eye Test and its Importance in the UAE?

The RTA guidelines in the UAE require vehicle drivers to pass an eye test to obtain a driving license. Poor eyesight often leads to road accidents and poses a grave risk to other vehicles on the road. An eye test checks whether a driver has proper vision to drive safely on the roads. This test facilitates the RTA to maintain high road safety standards and minimize accidents.

To pass an eye test, the candidates should be able to read a vehicle number plate in visible daylight from a distance of 20 meters. The eye test results are valid for three years. However, you may be required to take a re-test if there are drastic changes to your vision during this period.

You must get an eye test report from any of the RTA-approved testing centers in Sharjah. Candidates who fail the eye test are advised to adopt suitable remedial measures and take up the test later.
