The maternity leave for female employees has now been enhanced from 45 days to 60 days

Eligibility and Requirements to Get a Labor Card

Every employee working in the UAE must have a labor card. This includes both local workers and foreign nationals, working in either the public or the private sector. Both employers and employees should fulfill certain criteria to get a labor card. The requirements are as follows:

Employers

Employers must maintain their records in proper order and eliminate expired labor cards

The salaries paid to employees must be commensurate to their jobs and be in line with their profession

The companies must comply with the rules and regulations laid down by the Ministry

The employees must be provided with a labor card within 60 days of their arrival in the UAE

Employees

The minimum age of the employees is 18 years and their maximum age is 60 years

Every employee should possess the academic qualification or experience required for the job

The employees are required to pass a medical examination and obtain the necessary certificates in their home countries

How to Get a Labor Card Number?

There are two ways of getting a labor card number in the UAE. The details are as follows:

Download and install the official MoHRE app from the Play Store or the App Store. Sign up by creating a new account if you are a first-time user

Log in to the app with your UAE pass number. Then navigate to your profile to find all your employment details including the labor card number

Click on the ‘View Labor Card’ option to see a digital version of your labor card. You can find the labor card number here

Visit the nearest Tas’heel service center.  These service centers are located across the UAE

Present proper identity proof and request for assistance to check your labor card number

A printed copy of your labor card or any other employment details can be obtained at these centers by paying a nominal fee

How to Check the Labor Card Number With Your Emirates ID?

The step-by-step procedure to check the UAE labor card number with your Emirates ID is as follows:

Navigate to the “Services” section. Then look for the service related to checking labor card details or employment contract information

Enter your Emirates ID number and date of birth. Some services may require additional personal information

The MoHRE no longer issues a physical copy of the labor card. You can download it from the MoHRE website. The procedure is as follows:

Click on ‘Services’ at the top of the homepage. Then select ‘New Enquiry Services’ from the drop-down menu

Under the ‘Choose a Service’ section, select the ‘Print Electronic Work Permit’ option

Choose the ‘Print’ option to download your UAE labor card

Labor Card Validity in the UAE
